Kati Leinonen (b. 1974) is a Finnish artist using photography and video. She is living in Northern Finland, but and working all over. She was educated at the London College of Printing (BA Hons in photography) and at the University of Lapland in Finland (MA in audio-visual media culture). She uses photography not just to preserve and capture memories, but to shape and fold them, and to create new memories. Her particular interests lie in portraiture and stretching the idea of it. In her work the portrait is a place to encounter another being and to investigate the rituals of looking and being looked at.
